The international students’ organization was a child of circumstances. It was  borne out of a legitimate and patriotic desire by student bodies all over the world who came together to articulate their social services needs and presents same to the government of  the day for immediate attention.

The concept dated back to the 18^th Century Industrial Revolutions that swept across the whole of Europe. Then, as development grew in leaps and bounds infrastructural developments expanded in geometrical proportions and the provision of essential social services by governments to her citizenry became imminent. What  is more, the most vocal aspect of the population –the students were in the vanguard of  pressuring government to ensure a consistent and systematic provision of these services – which included adequate health care delivery, funding  of education ,subsidized agriculture, provision of portable and clean drinking water, good insurance policies, good road network, regular and constant power supply etc.

With the passage of time, government became increasingly worried on how to contend with the rising cost of governance and the rising cost of education. These contending variables made it imperative on the face of it, that certain government policies must be put in place to serve as palliatives in cushioning the education. Schemes like scholarships to brilliant and indigent students were put in place Reduction in cost of transport fares to students were introduced. Social security services, free health care and subsidized insurance policy coverage were all given to students.

However, with the collapse of the Soviet Union, the 18^th century industrial revolutions gave rise to an advanced form of capitalism ­– whose new concept in the 21^st century economy was nick-named ‘globalization’. The vision of this doctrine is simply, accumulation of capital through private sector initiative.

The idea is that governments would merely provide enabling environment conducive for accumulation of private capital at the expense of the universally acclaimed doctrine of the ancient Greeks city states which is “SAULUS POPULI SUPREM ALEX” which when literally translated means that “the welfare of the people should be the highest law”.

The philosophy of globalization is a negation of the concept of the Greek city states philosophy. Today, it is an established fact that government adopts cosmetics approaches in the provision of essential social service schemes to her citizens.

This has led to rising cost of education, incessant strikes by the academia in developing nations, who consistently ask for improved condition of services. The attendant consequences of these acts led to restlessness amongst the youths who resorts to social vices like cultism, rape and  various acts of hooliganism.
